Ann Ellis

Ann Ellis, of Comanche Texas passed away early Friday afternoon, October 28, 2022.
Ann was born in Comanche County on February 26, 1930, to Jess R. and Una Williford. She was the youngest of six children. She graduated from Comanche High School.
Ann married her high school sweetheart, Charles Ray Ellis in June of 1947. Ann and Ray lived in McCamey, Odessa, and Monahans, Texas before moving to Scottsdale, Arizona for 2 years, and then to Levelland and Lubbock, Texas (where they owned and operated the Exxon Bulk Plants). After retirement, Ray and Ann moved back to their home county of Comanche, Texas.
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast. It is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-serving, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." (I Corinthian 13:4-7) Ann Ellis loved the Lord and walked with Him. She loved her family, she served them, and she covered them in prayer. She lived her faith. She loved her church and served in the music ministry for many years as a choir teacher, singer, and librarian. She helped the bereavement committee prepare and serve many meals for families. She prayed faithfully for her family, her friends, and her church. She was a woman of deep faith, integrity, and compassion.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Wallace and her husband, Alan of Brownwood and her son, Ross Ellis of Comanche. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Elisa West and her husband Clay, Jesse Wallace, Candace Beyer and her husband Matt, Suzanne Ellis, and Angela Ellis; and 7 great grandchildren, Kyler West and his wife Holly, Maryn West, Sydnee Dyess, David Wallace, and James, Joshua, and Jonathan Beyer. Her sister, Neva Crumley resides in Pantego, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Ellis who passed away in 2000, her parents, Jess and Una Williford, and four of her siblings, Durward, Udell, Francis, and Jess Jr.
Ann Ellis was loved and respected by all who came to know her. She was interested in everyone she met. She was fiercely independent and genuinely kind. She stayed abreast of current affairs, kept meticulous records, and believed we are responsible to be good stewards of all that we have been given. Her family rejoices that she is in heaven and consider themselves highly blessed that she of all women was OUR matriarch. We will miss her, but we also know that she expects us to follow her example. It is an extraordinary challenge.
