Barbara Stone

Barbara Ann Stone, age 80, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 5th, 2024, in Flower Mound, Texas.

She was born on July 19, 1943, in Gorman, Texas to Burton and Audene Hughes. Barbara is proceeded in death by her parents Albert Burton Hughes & Barbara Audene Hughes, and her brother Allan Burton Hughes.

In 1959, she married Donald Joe Burch with whom they had two children: Melinda and Kevin. They were high school sweethearts who met in Levelland, Texas. In true West Texas style, they raised their kids to value the importance of faith and family. While in West Texas Barbara worked as a GA at Texas Tech University for Dr. Wright.

Barbara was devoted to her family and was a loving mom, sister, aunt, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Nothing made her happier than to spend time in fellowship with her children, grandchildren, and extended family.

In 1985, Barbara married Thomas Stone in Comanche, Texas. Tom and Barbara lived many happy years together while creating cherished moments being surrounded by children and grandchildren. Family time together always brought Barbara immense joy. They were active members of their church Coggin Ave Baptist Church of Brownwood. During her working years she worked as a coder at Comanche, Hamlin and Brownwood Hospitals. It was during that time that she devoted her spare time as a paramedic where she found her true calling which was to help others. Barbara enjoyed watching old Westerns, hosting family events, and traveling to new places. Some of her favorite vacations were traveling the islands of Hawaii, going on Big family vacations to Disney World, and Yellowstone.

Barbara is survived by her sister Geraldine DeAnda, daughter, Melinda Sample and husband Jim Sample of Flower Mound, and son Kevin Burch and wife Shannan Burch of Comanche; six grandchildren: Heather Pfohl and husband Matt Pfohl, Courtney Bates and husband Gary Bates, Trea Feist, Hailie Sample-Erlinger and husband Ben Erlinger, Ashley Burch and Colby Burch; and numerous great-grandchildren.
