Betty Thomas

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche. VISITATION: 12:30 P.M. until 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Betty Lou Thomas, age 88, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016, in Comanche County, Texas. She was born on February 27, 1928, in Comanche, to William A. and Lucy (Brewer) Payne. On January 12, 1949, she was united in marriage to Chester Reid Thomas in Comanche. He preceded her in death on August 4, 1984. In 1947, Betty finished business school and began work as a legal secretary. She continued in this field until she retired from the law firm of Woodley and Dudley in September, 1998. Betty was a member of First United Methodist Church in Comanche. She loved to sing. She had a beautiful voice and sang at many, many weddings, funerals, and other community gatherings and, of course, at church. She is survived by her nephew, Doug Thomas and wife Cindy of Comanche, and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her son Aaron Reid Thomas in 1965.
