GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 2:30 P.M. at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Comanche County. VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Saturday night from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. MEMORIALS: If desired memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 217 East Grand Avenue, Comanche, Texas 76442 Bill B. Day, age 94, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013, in Comanche, Texas. He was born on May 21, 1919, the youngest of six children born to Clifford and Ada Lee Day in the town of Aiken, Texas. After college at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Bill joined the Army during World War II, where he served for five years in the Army Air Force as an airplane mechanic. On June 30, 1942, he was united in marriage to Vernene Franks. They were married one month shy of sixty-eight years when Vernene passed away on May 22, 2010. In the 1950s Bill went into Radio Broadcasting starting at KEVA in Shamrock, Texas, then worked at KEYE in Perryton for eight years. He transferred to KCOM Radio in Comanche in 1966, where he served as manager and co-owner until his retirement. During his radio days, Bill was very involved in the community. After that he operated a picture frame shop for twenty years called The Miter Joint, just one-half mile north of Comanche High School on the De Leon Highway (State Hwy 16). He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Comanche. He had a beautiful singing voice and sang at funerals and in the choir for the church. He also sang in a barbershop quartet. Bill enjoyed sitting out on the porch, smoking his pipe and sharing stories with family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Ann Day and his grandchildren, Esther Watson, Stephen Watson, Teresa Watson, Alice Tucker and Christa Watson; and his great-grandchildren, Lilian Todd and Jocelyn Tucker
