Vineyard, age 78, passed away on Tuesday October 1, 2013, in Comanche County, Texas. He was born on December 23, 1934, in Comanche County, to William Hays and Veda Lucile (Smith) Vineyard. On May 1, 1954, he was united in marriage to Billie Ruth Lackey in Dublin, Texas. Bill attended the Law Enforcement Academy and served as a peace officer for Comanche County Sheriff’s Department for thirty years. He was a member of Sidney Baptist Church, where he served as Music Director. He was a member of May Masonic Lodge, #574, Sheriff’s Association of Texas, and a charter member of Comanche County Law Enforcement Association. He is survived by his wife, Billie Ruth Vineyard of Comanche; daughters, Vicki Lynn Shelton and husband Dennis of Springtown, and Shelley Jo Gibson and husband Keg of Sidney; son, Don Eric Vineyard of Fort Worth; grandchildren: Amiee Hope Coplen and husband Brent, Amanda Joy Levy and husband Brett, and Kenneth Ernest Gibson, III and wife Carrie; step-grandchildren: Amy Dawn Rains and husband John, and Justin Shelton and wife Maranda; great-grandchildren: Anna Grace Gibson, Kenneth Grant Gibson, Cora Eve Gibson, Charlotte Louise Gibson, Clark Brent Coplen, and Lincoln Crowder Coplen; step-great-grandchildren: Kaeleigh Rains, Khloe Rains, Nathaniel Rains, J.J. Shelton, Miles Shelton, Anayah Shelton, Lilly Shelton, and Raley Lynn Levy; brothers: Fred Vineyard of Comanche, and Wayne Vineyard and wife Carrie of Austin; sisters, Linda Robison and husband Larry of Sidney, Lou Williams and husband Ed of Sidney, and Jane Vineyard of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Hays and Veda Lucile Vineyard; and brother, Merle Dean Vineyard.
