Billie Ruth (Hill) Lewis, age 87, passed from this world on Monday, May 5, 2014, in Comanche, Texas. With her, surrounding her with love, was her daughter, Linda, and a host of sweet angels, who provided her with excellent, loving care for the past years at Western Hills Healthcare Residence in Comanche, Texas. She was born on March 2, 1927 in Duster, Texas to Jasper Martin and Vera (Huddleston) Hill. She was the fifth of seven children. She was married to the love of her life, Willie Durward Lewis, on March 1, 1947 in Eastland County, Texas. Most of their married life was spent in the oil fields of west Texas and eastern New Mexico. They returned home to Rising Star after he retired in 1978, where they enjoyed living close to family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie “Dude” Lewis, who passed in 1989; her parents, Martin and Vera Hill; her siblings, Curtis Hill, Margie Lancaster, Faye Poynor, and Georgie Lynn and many dear friends. Her remaining family includes her daughter, Linda Lancaster and husband Ronnie of May, Texas; her granddaughter, Katy Creek and husband Barry of Kohler, Wisconsin; her great-grandson Ian Creek, also of Kohler, Wisconsin; her brother Kenneth Hill and wife Barbara of Abilene, Texas; her brother, Rex Hill and wife Barbara of Hamilton, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 8, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. at the Rising Star Cemetery in Rising Star, Texas. An informal gathering will be held, following the service, in the Fellowship Hall of the Rising Star Church of Christ, where she was a member for many years before her illness. Any remembrances may be made to the Western Hills Nursing Center activity Fund or Alzheimer’s Association. The family would like to give special thanks to the caretakers of Solaris Hospice, the Rising Star Nursing Center staff, and Western Hills Nursing Center staff.
