Billy Pope, age 83, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021, in Temple, Texas.

He was born on July 25, 1937, in Grape Creek in Tom Green County to Joseph Ernest and Ottie Belle Pope. He married Patsy Ellison on February 22, 1963 in Big Lake, Texas. For 26 years he served the youth of Comanche as a coach, teacher and principal. Prior to moving to Comanche he coached in Barnhart, Cross Plains, and Big Lake, Texas. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He spent countless hours and miles attending the activities of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. After retirement, he and his wife loved to travel and fish. Billy was a member of Board Church.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Pope; daughter, Mitzi Hughey and husband Frank of Comanche; son, Steve Pope and wife Carol of Flatonia; grandchildren: Cody and wife KC Clements of Christoval; CaCY Clements of Georgetown; Tyler Pope of Abilene; and Jessie Pope of Flatonia; great grandchildren, Carsyn and Connor Clements and Gracie Hamilton and several nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Joseph and Ottie Belle Pope; and three brothers, J.D., Howard, William and one sister, Rosa Belle.

Lunch for the family will served at Board Church following the chapel service.
