Bobby John Allen, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at his home in Gustine, Texas. He was born on January 11, 1933, in Gustine, Texas, to J. D. and Myrtle (Cathey) Allen. On June 14, 1957, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Jane Allen in Irving, Texas. He was a United States Army veteran. In 1955 Bobby moved to Irving, where he worked as a Journeyman Sheet Metal Mechanic until 1999, when he retired and moved back to Gustine. He was a loving husband and father, a member of Gustine Church of Christ, and well known in the community for his humorous antics. He enjoyed life on his farm and spending time with his family. Bobby will be missed by all and, no doubt, his faith was a true reflection of how he lived his life. He was a man of integrity and treated others with kindness and respect. The family knows that we will all be together again one day and Bobby is probably looking down at us thinking “I’m waiting patiently”. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Jane Allen of Gustine; three children, Chris Allen and wife Karen of Irving, Jayna Wortham and husband Rodney of Pilot Point, and Jason Allen and wife Cindy of Midlothian; eight grandchildren – Krystal Wortham Penix, Karissa Allen Dill, Kayla Wortham, Courtney Allen, Kelsey Wortham, Rudi Clary-Wortham, Kyle Allen, and Kailee Allen; sister, Judy Westfall of Gustine; brother, Butch Allen of Burleson; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Ronnie Allen and wife Charlotte of Goldthwaite and Craig Slaughter of Midlothian. He was preceded in death by siblings, Billie Gunter, Paul Allen, and Shirley Slaughter; and parents, J.D. and Myrtle Allen.
