Carmaleta Byrd, passed away on July 25, 2023, in Comanche, Texas.
She was born on January 24, 1940, in Calera, Oklahoma to L.B. and Ruby Alice (Perry) Morris. She was united in marriage to Jackie Byrd in Knox City, Texas on May 12, 1956. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1999. Carmaleta was the bookkeeper for Carl’s Auto for 37 years. She was a supervisor at Sidrans Mfg for many years. She was a blessing to many, a kind, generous soul willing to help anyone in need. She was a Baptist. She was a talented seamstress. She was the caretaker for her younger siblings by age 7. She loved doing it. She and Jack loved Arkansas and lived there for 2 years after retirement. Carmaleta’s biggest love was her family. She offered advice to them freely as well as endless love. She loved the occasional casino trip with friends and family.
Carmaleta is survived a son, Rick Byrd of Comanche; two daughters, Sherry Byrd of Abilene, Tx and Cindy Land and husband, Thomas, of Comanche; grandchildren, BJ Land, Jackie Byrd, Randy Land and wife, Checka, Allie Land, Lauren Jacobs and husband, Jake, and Abby Land; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Morris and Charles Morris; and sister, Sandra Iverson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, L.B. and Ruby Alice (Perry) Morris; sister, Dixie Pack; grandson, Joey Byrd; and great-granddaughter, Cienna Land.
