FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.M. Saturday, April 17, at First Baptist Church of Comanche. BURIAL: Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Comanche County. VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. LUNCH: Lunch for the family will be at 12 Noon on Saturday at First Baptist Church. Carole Pyburn, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at her residence in Comanche, Texas. Carole Pippen was born in Cisco, Texas on May 30, 1932. She graduated from Cisco High School in 1949 where she was a baton twirler and head drum majorette in the high school band. In 1953 she graduated from Howard Payne College with a degree in business. She attended HPU on a band and baton-twirling scholarship, and while there she studied art and also twirled a baton – sometimes even two – for the Yellow Jacket Band. Carole married Ben D. Sudderth in September, 1953 and while he served as a State Representative, she served as the secretary to Texas Attorney General Price Daniel. In 1958, they moved to Comanche and she began teaching fourth grade. Throughout the years she taught private art lessons to children and adults in the community and across the state. An accomplished professional artist, Carole won numerous awards at juried art shows throughout Texas. In the 1980’s she served on the faculty of the Howard Payne University Art Department where she taught drawing. On May 4, 1982, Carole married Jerry D. Pyburn. Together they achieved their real estate agents and brokers licenses and formed Pyburn Real Estate in Comanche. Over the years, Carole managed to place a paintbrush in the hands of every one of her grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Momo” and who will miss her greatly. She is survived by husband Jerry Pyburn; son Ben H. "Bo" Sudderth; daughters, Sandi Sudderth Otero and husband, Michael; Bonnie Sudderth and husband Chris Wiegand; step-son, Marshall Pyburn; brother, David L. Pippen and wife Sheila; sisters, Glenna Reeves and Gloria Turner; grandchildren, Skylar Clay Sudderth, Tristan Sudderth, Starski Sudderth, Kalista Sudderth, Mia Wiegand, Russell Lolley, Paige Lolley, Mitchell Lolley, Brook Otero, Trenton Pyburn, Cullen Pyburn, and Markie Pyburn; great-grandchildren, Jadie Sudderth, Rylee Sudderth, Taylor Sudderth, and Ashton Sudderth; She was preceded in death by one son, Skylar B. Sudderth and her parents Luke and Wini Pippen.
