He went to be with his parents, brothers, sisters, and one granddaughter in heaven on November 30, 2014. He was united in marriage to Trevlin Gilchrest on February 10, 1990 in Sonora, Texas. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  Joe served in the U.S Navy and U.S Air Force.  For ten years, he was employed by Rye Supply Company in Sonora, Texas as an oilfield salesman. He is survived by his wife Trevlin (Gilchrest) Strong of Proctor; six sons and two stepsons, Scott Thomas Strong of Pataskala, Ohio; son, Neil Dick Strong and wife Mary of Kempton, Illinois; son, Mark Evan Strong and wife Suzette of Pooler, Georgia; son, Kerry Dann Strong of Mansfield, Texas; son, Devin Shawn Strong of Arlington, Texas; son, Carroll Thomas Strong Jr. of Marfa, Texas; step-son, Maxc Lynn Luttrell and wife Pam of Dublin, Texas; step-son, Joseph “Jody” Luttrell  and wife Mary Beth of San Angelo, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and one great granddaughter due in May; one sister, Maxine Holder of Baytown, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Layne Balough; parents, Luther and Mamie Strong; five brothers, R.C. Strong, Herman Strong, Jim Strong, Kenneth Strong, Farrell Strong; two sisters, Frances Carroll and Fern Allison.
