FUNERAL SERVICE:  11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel. BURIAL:  Victor Cemetery in Erath County. VISITATION:  10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. prior to service Comanche Funeral Home. Charles L. “Chuck” Smith, age 86, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018, in Stephenville, Texas. He was born July 15, 1932, in Gorman, Texas to Alva Leo Smith and Cleda Alvera (Beaty) Smith. Charles was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.  On November 24, 1954, he was united in marriage to Mary Ruth Northcutt in Jacksboro, Texas. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  Charles was a faithful Christian and was a member of Victor Methodist Church.  He graduated from Texas A&M in 1955. He worked as a salesman for many years prior to moving to Comanche where he was a dairy farmer for 15 years. In his spare time, he loved to go fishing and golfing and spending time with his dogs. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Ruth Smith of Comanche; two sons, Charles Douglas Smith of Ft. Worth and James Ralph Smith and wife, Kris of Oswego, NY; one daughter, Lori Ruth Smith of Starkville, MS; five grandchildren, Lauren Pope and husband Daniel of Johnson City, TN, Christina Stark and husband David of Minneapolis, MN, Lesley Smith of Denver, CO, Meredith McCurry and husband John of Colleyville, TX, and Ramzy Smith of Starkville, MS; and five great-grandchildren, Nathan Pope, Julianne Pope, Everley Pope, Piper McCurry, and Maddox McCurry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva Leo Smith and Cleda Alvera (Beaty) Smith.
