Chestine Harris Lacy, known to all that loved her as “Nana”, entered Heavens gates on July 9 th , 2018, where she was welcomed with open arms by many family members as well as dear friends. Chestine was born November 28, 1931 to parents Alvie and Rhoda Pace in Camden, Tennessee. In 1948 she married Oscar Orville Harris in Corinth, Mississippi. They lived in Hohenwald, Tennessee and had three children, Ralph, Gina and Roger. The family moved to Texas and Oscar passed away on August 3, 1969. In 1972 she met Don Lacy and in 1973 they were married. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2003. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was devoted to her family. For over thirty years Chestine was a self-employed hairdresser. She began caring for her grandchildren in her home and soon started receiving calls from other parents wanting her to keep their children as well. Very soon she had a home daycare and provided care for over 100 children from the Comanche County area over the course of time. In her “spare” time she loved to fish, play bingo, and was an avid reader. She is survived by her sons Ralph Harris and wife Debra of Bastrop, Roger Harris and wife Karen of Cedar Hills, and Gary Lacy and wife Judy of Comanche; daughter, Gina Ricketson and friend Jerry of Deer Park; grandchildren Jason Ricketson, Ross Harris, Bo Lacy, Lisa McCown, Jacob Harris and Jessica Franks, Lacy Ricketson and their spouses; ten great-grandchildren Landon Carleton, Jillian Ricketson, Evan Ricketson, Lola Jane Lacy, Finley Lacy, Daniel McCown, Miles McCown, J.B McCown, Landry Harris and Harper Harris; sister Helen Connell of Kerrville; brother Jack Burgamy and wife Susan; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. As you can see she had a very large family that loved her dearly. While Nana’s House was open to many for many years, nothing compares to what our Father has prepared. Jesus shared a glimpse when He said, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” John 14:1-3 NIV
