David Andrew Bryant, a gifted writer, loving husband, and proud father, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024, at the age of 78. David was born on April 15, 1946, in Trion, Georgia, to Dewey and Helen Bryant. Only a few weeks later the family moved to Miami, Florida.
From a young age, his passion for storytelling, ambition and courage set him apart. At the young age of 17, David joined the Air Force serving until July 1, 1968. He retired as SSGT with most of his time spent in Vietnam as a medic. Following his service, he graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications degree. He spent his career writing for The Orlando Sentinel, Chicago Tribune, The Fort Worth Star Telegram, The Columbus Forum, and retired as the editor of a Highlands News in Sebring, FL.
As much as David loved writing, his greatest joy came from his family. His favorite hobbies included hunting, history, reading, fishing, and BBQ, winning several blue ribbons in the BBQ circuit over the years. He was a loving husband to Frances Bryant, with whom he shared 29 years of marriage. He loved his family and was so proud of his daughters and grandkids.
David is survived by his devoted wife, Frances Bryant; daughters, Tyree Schwager and Miranda Andrews; son-in-law, Adam Andrews; grandchildren, Aiden Andrews, Connor Schwager and Callie Schwager, as well as several nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Helen Bryant; brothers, Roy and Robert Bryant and baby sister, Barbara Braswell.
