David Mcminn

May 3, 1952 — March 12, 2024

David Thomas McMinn left this life to be with his heavenly Father and loved ones in heaven on March 12, 2024 at the age of 71. David was born on May 3, 1952 in Fort Worth, Tx to Thomas and Doris McMinn. He grew up in a loving Christian family with siblings, Jan, Fran, and John and his devoted parents. David accepted the Lord Jesus as his Savior when he was eleven years old, was baptized and continued to practice Christian principles his whole life. David was a very intellectual and inquisitive child and excelled at school. He graduated from Haltom High School as a member of the National Honor Society in 1970 and went on to attend Baylor University.

After Baylor, David began a 36 year career with the United States Postal Service in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He began downtown operating a machine but was very happy to be transferred to the Utica Square branch as a window customer service personnel. He loved this job because he loved meeting the customers and getting to know the regulars. He just loved meeting people and helping them.

David adored his parents and one of the highlights of his life was planning and taking his parents on various trips across the United States. He also loved music and taught himself how to play the guitar and had an extensive guitar collection. When he wasn't busy with his parents or guitars he was an avid fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team.

Most important of all was David's character. He was honest, loving and always wanted to do what he could to love, serve and help other people. He was just a genuinely kind person. Perhaps the best example of this was his devotion to the care of his parents. David gave up the last seven and a half years of his life to be there for his parents. Although Jan, Fran, and John were there for them too, it was David who was the primary caregiver. He just loved them so much.

David is preceded in death by his father, Thomas McMinn, grandparents Brady and Willie Cotney and Lemuel and Lola McMinn and many loved aunts and uncles.

He is Survived by his mother, Doris McMinn, sisters Jan Wynn (Mike) of Gatesville, Tx, Fran Milfeld (Kent) of Austin, Tx, and brother John McMinn-Reyna (Daniel) of Hutto, Tx. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Julie Bugh (Ryan) of Williamsburg, Va, Michael Wynn of Gatesville, Tx, Becca Milfeld of Washington DC, Karen Milfeld (Sam Cook) of Porto, Portugal and Joel McMinn-Reyna of New Braunfels, Tx. He is also survived by great nieces and nephews Owen, Allison, Brooklyn and Artemis and many cousins whom he loved dearly.
