Box 783, Comanche, Texas 76442 Donna Kaye Jones, 64, died on Sunday, January 4, 2015, at her home in Comanche, Texas, after a brief illness. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters helped carry her and strengthen her over the last four years after suffering severe cardiac distress and diabetic illness. Donna was born to Kenneth O. Bearden and Virginia Monroe Bearden on April 10, 1950 in Dallas, Texas. Donna grew up and attended schools in Dallas. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School, she married the love of her life, James E. “Jim” Jones, on September 14, 1968. Shortly after their wedding, Jim, a Navy Seaman, was sent to Anchorage on assignment. This began Donna’s love for travel. From Anchorage, the couple was reassigned to Puerto Rico where they welcomed the birth of their first child, Brock. Married for 46 years, Donna and Jim raised their two children, Brock and Jennifer. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Donna faithfully cared for family and friends through delicious cooking/baking from scratch as well as sewing and crafting. Donna spent many years working for Comanche ISD as a cafeteria worker and teacher’s aide. Donna also enjoyed volunteering for the Salvation Army in Comanche and with the Lutheran Brotherhood. Donna was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Comanche. In her free time, Donna enjoyed dancing, laughing, joking, watching her grandchildren, and playing cards. She especially loved playing spoons with her family. Known for her ease in frequent conversation with total strangers, some may be surprised to learn of the shyness of her youth. Yet even as a child, she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her smiling, laughter, and joking, will never be forgotten. Donna is survived by her husband, Jim Jones, of Comanche; son, Brock Jones, and his wife, Bandi, of Abilene; and daughter, Jennifer Jarvis, and her husband, Louis Jarvis, of Hewitt; seven grandchildren, Mackenzie Jones, Megan Heussner, Brighlon Kilpatrick, Kendall Heussner, Brenham Pemberton, Madelyn Heussner and Bryant Jones. Donna was a woman of commitment. She loved her family greatly and was devoted to providing for them. Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her sweet Libby, her beloved apricot poodle.
