Dorothy Lee McAliley Cox, age 81 of Comanche, passed into the arms of her Lord on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the Comanche County Medical Center. Dorothy was born on September 18, 1928 to Luther James and Annie Laura (Phillips) McAliley. On February 27, 1954 she married the love of her life, Preston Cox in Comanche, Texas. Dorothy was a homemaker, a loving wife, devoted mother, Grandma and Great Grandma. She was a faithful, longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Comanche, and a member of the Burton Bible Class. For many years she volunteered and helped organize the bereavement committee at her church, helping make preparation for meals for families that had lost loved ones. She was a volunteer at Comanche Cares and developed many friendships while working there. She also worked as a voter clerk and was involved in tabulating early votes. She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Preston Cox. Daughter, Rhonda Abbey and her husband Carroll. Granddaughter Kassie Day and her husband Jacob, and granddaughter Allison Abbey. Dorothy was also Great Grandma to Lakyn Faith Day and Meryn Claire Day; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Phillip McAliley.
