LUNCH: Family will have lunch at East Side Baptist Church following the funeral service. Dorothy Jean Godfrey, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, in Comanche County, Texas. MEMORIALS: East Side Baptist Church, 207 FM 3381, Comanche, Texas 76442. Dorothy Jean Godfrey, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, in Comanche County, Texas. She was born on December 11, 1927, in Blanket, Texas, to Otis A. and Ruby (McKenzie) Coulter. On February 19, 1943, she was united in marriage to Druey C. Godfrey in Comanche. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2003. For fifteen years she was a self employed beauty operator, and for twenty years worked for Wal-Mart in Brownwood. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church, 50’s Club at East Side Baptist Church, and First Ladies’ Club at Comanche National Bank. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Wayland and husband Terry of Lubbock; son, Cliff W. Godfrey of Brownwood; three grandchildren: Terry Wayland, Jr., Corey Wayland, and Michelle Beyer; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Wayland.
