Dorothy Hicks, formerly of Comanche, Texas, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020, in Bedford, Texas, at the age of 89.
She was born on February 5, 1931, in Childress, Texas, to Cleburne and Mary (McClure) Spain. On March 9, 1957, she was united in marriage to Garland “Speedy” Hicks in Brownwood. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1978. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She worked hard all of her life and held positions of bookkeeper for several manufacturing companies.
She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Benge and husband Douglas of Bedford, and Sharon Crawford of Gatesville; two sons, Garland Hicks, Jr. and wife Judy of Comanche and James Hicks and wife Della of Comanche; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter; parents, Cleburne and Mary Spain; brother, Calvin Spain; and sisters, LaRue Spain and Colene Rothwell.
A service in memory of Dorothy will be held at a later time.
