Dorothy May (Waight) Svanajord, age 97, of Pottsville passed away Wednesday, December 6th.
She was born December 13, 1925, to Arthur Alvin Waight and Thelma Jenkins Waight in Pottsville. She attended college at McMurry College in Abilene, Texas. After college she taught school in Kansas. While there she met her husband, Benny Svanajord. They were married for 35 years. During this time she lived in Goodrich, Minnesota. Upon his death she moved back to Pottsville. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, quilting, reading and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by per parents, and 3 brothers Kenneth, Arthur, and Don. Survivors include 2 nieces, Dianne Velzy, Donnett Waight, 4 nephews, Tommy Waight and his wife Laura, Arthur Waight, John Waight and his wife Debra, Matthew Waight, 2 great-neice, Trella Waight and Alexys Goodwin, and 1 great-great grand niece Aspyn Goodwin.
Dorothy's memorial service will be held Saturday, December 16th at 2:00pm, at the Comanche FUneral Home, 411 West Grand, Comanche Texas.
Memorials may be made to Hamilton Public Library.
