MEMORIAL SERVICE St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Comanche, TX; Wednesday, December 28, 11:00 AM with a reception to follow at the family home Editha was born September 7, 1912 at the family home in Comanche, the youngest daughter of Thomas Jackson and Julia Everidge Williams. She grew up in Comanche and attended Comanche Public Schools until enrolling in the Hockaday School in Dallas for her High School years. Following graduation from Hockaday, Editha went to Randolph Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, Virginia for her freshman year. She then transferred to The University of Texas at Austin to complete her education. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi at the University. She also studied at New York University and Columbia University in New York City. Additionally she studied at the University of Missouri. Following her collegiate years, Editha traveled extensively in Europe for six months with college friends. Following her return from Europe, Editha met the love of her life, Gail P. Dudley whom she married on March 29, 1938. On their wedding night, she and Gail moved to the Dudley Bros ranch where they raised their children and good Hereford cattle. Editha was a tireless volunteer serving in many capacities throughout her life. She served as den mother, brownie leader, President of the PTA, member of the Comanche Garden Club, President of the Comanche Study Club, President of the Rejebian Club, President of the Women of the Church, founding member of the American Hereford Auxiliary, The Texas Hereford Auxiliary, The Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Auxiliary and was very involved in the building of the Comanche Public Library. She was a member of her beloved Tuesday Club and Wednesday Luncheon Club and was a founding member of PAR Country Club. Editha’s passions were her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, church, art and music, entertaining, gardening and landscaping, needlepoint, world travel, bridge and dove hunting. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers Harold, Colquitt, Herbert and Walter Williams and her sister Maidee Shear and her grandson Jackson Albert Dudley. She is survived by her children Jim and Margaret Dudley, Julia Dudley Allison, John and Ginger Dudley, T.J. and Kerry Dudley; her grandchildren Crawford Allison, Justin and Amanda Allison and their child, Arthur and Paul and Kimber Allison and their daughter Jillian Grace Allison; Gardner and Elizabeth Dudley and their sons William Jackson Dudley, Thomas Coleman Dudley and Hudson Andrew Dudley; James and Kara Dudley; Patrick Dudley, Gerald Dudley and Geoffrey Dudley. Her beloved niece Quay Williams McCall and numerous other nieces and nephews. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Virginia Lee, Carolyn Luckie, Marjorie Cox, Marilyn Biggs, Christina Zwicker, Teresa Diaz, Pat McDonald, Treva Bouquet and Amalia and Solomon Victoria; all of whom made it possible for Editha to enjoy her last years at home.
