FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel. BURIAL: Mercer's Gap Cemetery in Comanche County. VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Friday December 16, 2016, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Houston Street, Comanche, Texas 76442. Eldon Ray Tupin, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, in Comanche, Texas. He was born on Wednesday, November 19, 1930, in Dallas, Texas, to Roy Lewis and Jewell (McKinzie) Tupin. Eldon Ray was a United States Army Veteran, serving one year of active duty and six years active Army Reserves. On May 5, 1950, he was united in marriage to Melba Ruth Thomas in Comanche County. As a young man he began working at Arthur Chevrolet in the “wash house”, and over the years worked his way up to manager. Later he went to work at Higginbotham Bros. in Comanche as store manager. Eldon was always very active in the community. He was a volunteer fireman and fire chief. He served for three years on the Comanche School Board and one year on the Chamber of Commerce Board. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Comanche, where he volunteered for Baptist Disaster Relief and participated in First Baptist Rehab. Eldon was a member of hope Lodge 481 and served as treasurer for twenty years. He was Past Master and received the Golden Trowel Award, and he was a member of the Shriners. He was a lifetime member of Scottish Rite recently receiving his 50-year service award. He is survived by his wife, Melba Ruth Tupin of Comanche; daughter, Beverly Mercer and husband Bret of Austin; son, Kyle Tupin and wife Debbie of Houston; three grandchildren: Derek Mercer, Sheryl Brown and Thomas Tupin; six great-grandchildren: Logan Brown, Makayla Brown, Tobias Brown, Eliot Mercer, Finlay Mercer and Nyla Mercer; and one brother, Kennard Tupin of Ft. McKavett
