VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Thursday night from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Elmeree Elliott, age 93, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014, in Stephenville, Texas. She was born on May 25, 1920, in Comanche County, Texas, to James Elmer and Effie (Layman) Hicks. Elmeree and her twin sister, Effie Lee, were the oldest of thirteen children. On October 1, 1940, she was united in marriage to Merlin E. Elliott in Comanche County and to this union three daughters, Linda, Debra and Janice were born. Elmeree worked various jobs in her lifetime, but her favorite “job” was that of wife and mother. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved her family, all children, dancing to Jody Nix music with Merlin, fishing, her roses, travel, playing dominoes, hummingbirds, anything chocolate and the color red. She loved to tease and was known for her coconut cakes. Elmeree lived most of her life in Comanche and was a member of Gartman View Freewill Baptist Church in Comanche County. She lived in Early, Texas, for fifteen years and the last eleven years in Stephenville. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Carl Janner of Priddy, Debbie and Ray Reynolds of Glen Rose, and Janice and Robert Reeves of Stephenville; six grandchildren and spouses: Dirk Janner and Dorene of Lexington, Texas, Shannon Glatter and Stephen of Comanche, Carrie Wylie of Fort Worth, Chris Reynolds and Jamie Courville of Brooklyn, New York, Jayson Reeves and Amy of Denton, and Zachary Reeves and Lauren of Buda, Texas; nine great-granddaughters and four great-grandsons: Ashlee, Hollie, Kelcie, Baylee, Lance, Dustin, Dylan, Coe, Cameron, Jordan, Piper, Campbell and Laynie; six great-great-granddaughters; four great-great-grandsons; sisters, Patsy Auvenshine and husband Dale of Comanche, Dee Heilman of Omaha, Nebraska and Gene Silva of California; brothers, J. D. Hicks and wife Frankie of Comanche, and Billy Hicks of New Mexico; many nephews, nieces and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 62 years, Merlin; her parents, Elmer and Effie Hicks; sisters, Debbie Sue Kilgore, Mary Ruth Ross, Effie Lee Farley and brothers, Donnie Hicks, Buddie Hicks, Charles Hicks and Newt Hicks.
