GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Newburg Cemetery in Comanche County. E. Hoyt Dowdey, age 81, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Comanche County Medical Center, Comanche County, Texas. He was born on June 27, 1929, in Comanche County, to H. Grady and Allie Naomi (Clark) Dowdey. Hoyt worked for General Dynamics in Fort Worth from 1947 until 1959 and from 1960 until 1967 he worked for Navion in Galveston and Harlingen. In 1967 he went to work for Bell Helicopter in Fort Worth and in 1995 he retired after twenty-two years of service. He was a member of First Christian Church in Brownwood. He was a Mason and was a member of Hope Masonic Lodge in Comanche as well as several other Masonic Lodges, and was also a member of the Van Zandt Unit of Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) in Fort Worth. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Dowdey of Comanche; son, Donald Dowdey and wife Marilyn Brady of Alpine; daughter, Dr. Diane Dowdey Watson and husband James of Crocket; stepson, Scott P. Brown of Fort Worth; stepdaughter, Tracy Brown Roberson and husband Phil of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Ashly Roberson Morton and husband C.J. of Bryantown, Maryland; great-granddaughter, Lonnie Morton of Bryantown; Brother, Dr. Ben Dowdey and wife Peggy of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
