GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 4:00 P.M. Friday, May 7, in Oakwood Cemetery, Comanche. VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Faye Belle Dudley Evans, a resident of Comanche for all of her nearly 97 years, passed away on May 4, 2010. Faye Belle was born December 14, 1913 in Comanche to Charles Robert Marshall (CRM) and Theresa Belle Smith Dudley, the youngest of eight children. She married Earl Ray Evans in Comanche on October 23, 1938. His untimely death on July 16, 1945 left Faye Belle as a young widow who took over the reigns of their Western Auto on the square in Comanche, which she ran for several years. Beginning in the late 1940’s Faye Belle and her sister Theresa became intrepid travelers throughout the United States and Canada, as well as Europe. Faye Belle drove into every major metropolitan center in the U.S. and Canada, including New York, San Francisco, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, Montreal and Vancouver. They visited all the lower 48 states as well as Hawaii. Faye Belle was a renowned bridge player belonging to several clubs, including the Friday Club. She delighted in entertaining her bridge clubs in her beautiful home and was a famous candy maker, to the delight of her friends and family. She was known for her sense of style and impeccable grooming at all times. Faye Belle was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She is most remembered for her caring and compassionate heart and her unselfish attentions to her family members and many friends. Faye Belle was a member of the First Baptist Church in Comanche. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Catherine Marten Haynes of Dallas, Charlotte Carnes and John Reese of Comanche and Nevada, Julia Dudley Allison of Houston, James H. and Margaret Dudley, John and Ginger Dudley, T.J. and Kerry Dudley, Tom R. and Melissa Dudley, Ray and Monica Dudley, Harry and Rhonda Dudley all of Comanche and Claude Dudley of Arizona, and by a host of great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews and by a sister-in-law, Editha Dudley of Comanche. In addition to her husband and parents Faye Belle was predeceased by her three brothers; Gail, Tom and Eltos Dudley and by her four sisters; Melba Marten, DeAlva Holmes, Theresa Dudley and Catherine Carnes.
