Frank Scott

January 2, 1948 — January 2, 2023

Franklin D. Scott of Gustine, TX, passed away peacefully at home on his 75th birthday – January 2, 2023. He had recently been diagnosed with metastatic liver cancer. Like many of Frank’s adventures, his passing came on fast and was somewhat unpredictable.
Born to Gertrude (Robertson) and Elbert Scott on January 2, 1948, Frank was the youngest of 11 children. He was a pure Texan: born in Orange, reared in Port Arthur and Sidney, raised his own family in Brownwood, and retired on his farm in Gustine. Frank started working at Southwestern Bell as a teenager and retired from GTE, where he spent years as a telephone repairman. He became a piddler deluxe. He was a jokester; he loved to fish The Cut on Bolivar Peninsula; he enjoyed showing up unannounced; and he was likely the last yellow-dog Democrat in the Lone Star State.
He was sincerely passionate about the worth and dignity of every human life.
Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley; his children and step-children: Ross (Jimmy), Tami, Thad (Stephanie), Ashlie (Glen), Shana (Clay), Paul (Stacey), and Chance (Becky); and his siblings Jack, Jean, and Bill. A lifelong gambler, Frank loved nothing more than to take the poker money of his grandkids David, Ali, Noah, Emily, Timber, Cedar, Porter, Presley, Brody, Kendall, Sydney, Parker, Sadie, Daniel, Case, Sophie, Ranj, Hayden, Ace, Preston, Kellen, Abri, Geb, Austen, Hudson, and Greenlee plus great-grandkids Ava, Grady, and Tilly.
Frank never strayed far from Texas. He lived his life refusing to get on an airplane. Then came the ultimate irony. On his 75th birthday, Frank was in the air, en route to Colorado, since he made the decision to donate his body to medical science. If we could all be so committed to our beliefs….
