Frankie Rankin

Frankie Gene “Red” Rankin, age 74, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Hendrick Health System in Abilene, Texas. He was born on August 19, 1939, in Zurette, Texas, to Reagan Rankin and Treva (Vines) Rankin. On January 13, 1992, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Smart in Las Vegas, Nevada. Frankie was an office technician for Monroe Company in California for 25 years and later owned and managed Rankin & Company in California for 8 years. After relocating to Texas he worked for Kirbo’s Office Machines for 7 years in the surrounding counties. Frankie served in the U.S. Army Reserves and the California National Guard. He was a Baptist and served as a Layman Pastor for a church in California. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Rankin of Gustine ; three sons, Dusty Rankin and wife Cynthia of Oklahoma, Roan Rankin and wife Roxanne of California, and Danny Cheatham and wife Sharla of Comanche; two daughters, LaTrisha Martin and husband Shayne of Azle and Catrina Rogers and husband Norman of Comanche; fifteen grandchildren; Jerrica, Kyla, Alisha, Justin, Chase, Candace, Kimmie, Randi Kay, Beau, Cahlen, Shadan, Landon, Clayton, Jessica and Cole; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Bruce Rankin and wife Nancy of Alabama; sister, Betty Rodgers of California and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reagan and Treva “Vines” Rankin; one brother, George White and great-granddaughter Rusti Autumn Rogers.
