Freddie Lynn Chappell, 78, of Comanche, Texas passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024 in Temple, Texas.
Freddie was born in Comanche, Texas on December 5, 1945 to his loving family, Roscoe Owen and Lula Bell Chappell, and siblings, Wendell, Sherman and later Thelma. He met the love of his life, Janis Kay Hitt, during his time at Comanche High School where he played football and later graduated from in 1964. After High School, he and Janis married on June 4,1965, and later had two precious boys, Carl and Darrell. He worked as a route salesman and later Manager for Coca-Cola in Stephenville, Abilene and Sweetwater for 20 years and then spent the remainder of his working career with AMPI and Western Dairy Transport, where he was recognized for 1,000,000 miles driven without tickets or accidents. Freddie was known by all to be joyful soul, kind, charactered and full of jokes and never met a stranger. He was known to be a whiz at math, loved hunting, fishing, was an avid UT football fan and loved spending time with his family. He was also lovingly known as Papaw to six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. In his retirement, he and Janis owned and operated the Cottonwood Cove Fishing Village at Lake Buchanan, Texas where they shared hospitality and their love of fishing with many. They returned to Comanche in 2021. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Freddie is survived by his wife, Janis Chappell; two sons, Carl Chappell and his wife, Sheryl of Snyder, Texas and Darrell Chappell and his wife, Shayla of Sweetwater, Texas; six Grandchildren, Cody Chappell of San Angelo, Texas; Lacy Minchew and husband, Stephen of Lubbock, Texas; Murphy Chappell and wife, Alex of McKinney, Texas; Jacob Chappell and wife, Paige of Abilene, Texas; Harrison Chappell and wife, Haley of Ira, Texas and Mallory Chappell of Sweetwater, Texas. He is also survived by four great Grandchildren, Analia and Amado Chappell of Ballinger, Texas; Liam Minchew of Lubbock, Texas and D.J. Chappell of Abilene, Texas; one sister, Thelma McGhee of Leander and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, brothers.
