FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 4, 2010, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel. BURIAL: Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche. VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. LUNCH: First Baptist Church following the funeral services. MEMORIALS: First Baptist Church, 407 N. Houston, Comanche, Texas 76442, or a charity of choice. Garland Royce Lloyd, age 78, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2010, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center, Brownwood, Texas. Garland was born on July 16, 1932, in Soda Springs, Texas, to William and Alta (Bayless) Lloyd. He graduated from Comanche High School in 1948 and attended Tarleton State College and Texas Tech University, and graduated in 1952 with a BBA in Accounting. He completed ROTC at Texas Tech and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He served on active duty for three years and continued to serve in the United States Air Force Reserve until he retired in 1981 with the grade of Lieutenant Colonel. On September 5, 1955, he was united in marriage to Wanda Elizabeth Johnson in Blanket, Texas. Garland was on the School Board of New Braunfels I.S.D. from 1978-1987, and was Treasurer for First Baptist Church in New Braunfels for many years and served as a Deacon in New Braunfels and later at First Baptist Church in Comanche. Most of his working career was spent as a civilian working in Accounting and Finance at Lackland Air Force Base and Randolph Air Force Base, from where he retired in 1986. He and Wanda moved from New Braunfels to Comanche Texas in 1992. He was active in the community and was Secretary of Comanche Evening Lions Club. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Lloyd of Comanche, daughter, Janet Harrison and husband Dr. David Harrison of Dallas; daughter, Julie Munn and husband Ed of Comanche; son, Jim Lloyd and wife Kerry of Cameron; daughter, Jodie Miller and Husband Coy of Gilmer; grandchildren, Jennifer Lloyd of College Station, Andrew Lloyd of College Station, Patrick Lloyd of Cameron, Kyle Munn of Comanche, and Tanner Miller of Gilmer; sisters, Rita Thomas and husband Bobby, of Blanket, and Judy McGinnis and husband, B.J. of Blanket. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alta and William (Bud) Lloyd; brother, Nordell Lloyd; and sister, Sue Lippe.
