Box 98, Gustine, Texas 76455. Geneva Thompson died October 2, 2012, at Hamilton Healthcare Center at the age of 84. She had resolutely struggled to recover her health since suffering a stroke on November 18, 2010. Geneva peacefully gave up that struggle in the early morning hours on Tuesday. Geneva was born in Lampasas County, November 15, 1927, and was married to James Robert Thompson on January 19, 1947, in Dublin, Texas, Erath County, in the home of Alton Cogburn by Bro. J. T. Broseh. Geneva and J. R. bought property and moved to Gustine in August of 1947. Until their respective deaths, they worked, reared their family, and resided there. As a girl, Geneva lived in Lampasas County and attended Adamsville grade school. When Geneva was only 14 years old, her mother passed away. After that tragedy, her father moved Geneva and her two younger brothers to Dublin, where she eventually met and married J. R. Thompson. Geneva was a seamstress in Comanche County for over 30 years. She first made combat fatigues during the Vietnam conflict for Sidran Manufacturing, and later made jeans for Levi’s. After that, she worked with the Simpsons at Solar Interiors helping to beautify many homes in Comanche and the surrounding areas. After the passing of her husband, J. R., she discovered a love for dancing, and attended local senior dances as often as she could. At one of these dances, she reconnected with an old acquaintance, Fred Couch, and they became fast friends. Geneva is survived by seven children (spouses): four daughters: Pam Tatum (Monte) of Gustine, Texas; Pat Jennings (Jim) of Manor, Texas; Debbie Cope of Gustine, Texas; and Brenda Thompson of Midlothian, Virginia and three sons: James Thompson (Shirley) of Cisco, Texas; Mark Thompson (Shannon) of Seagoville, Texas and Rev. Paul Thompson (Cindy) of Highland, Illinois. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren: Joshua, James, Nicole, David Benjamin, Tony, Felicia, Jonathan, Jennifer, Jennisa, Laresia, Lakota, Killian, Catalin, Makaila, Micah, Aidan, Andrew, and Hollie; and eight great-grandchildren: Chloe, Levi, Jacob, Boaz, Lydia, Sabrina, Joseph and Quinn. Two siblings have also survived her; a sister, Gladys Bain of Lampasas, Texas; and a brother, Viron Gale “Jack” Sims of Temple, Texas. She is also survived by her Aunt Lois Hart of Raymondville, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, J. R. Thompson, on January 20, 1993; her young son, Andrew Ted Thompson on March 30, 1967; her mother, Leona Mae Strader Sims on October 26, 1942, her father, Edward Earnest Sims on May 5, 1968; her sisters, Wyvon Sims on March 2, 1924, Marguerite Smith on October 26, 1968, Morean Beavers on September 20, 2000, and Joyce Green on January 17, 2007; and her brother, Edward E. Jr. “Bud” Sims on June 27, 1998.
