He was born on August 4, 1940, in Comanche, Texas, to Sutton and Myra (Morris) Dudley. He graduated from Comanche High School in 1958 and attended Tarleton State College in Stephenville and East Texas State University in Commerce. In September, 1961 Bob was united in marriage to Kay Hanson Campbell in San Angelo, Texas. He was an electrician and was employed by 3-M in Brownwood until he retired after thirty-one-years of service. Following Bob’s retirement, the highlight of his day was the 5:30 A.M. meeting with his C.J.’s coffee buddies where lots of jokes, pranks and “talk” abounded. Then on to Bob’s little piece of heaven on earth - his ranch and his little house. He loved collecting antique clocks and was a fierce bidder when he found one he liked. He was known far and wide for his famous garage, the “house of horrors” as Kay called it, but if someone needed anything Bob could find it for them. He always said he was an accumulator, not a collector. That was so true. But it was always a treasure to him. Bob liked everyone and never met a stranger. He and Kay loved animals and had quite a collection of strays. His life revolved around his many friends and most of all his love for Kay and his beloved daughter, Kelly Kay. He is survived by his wife, Kay Campbell Dudley of Comanche; daughter, Kelly Kay Hughes and husband Steven of Austin; three nieces: Jolane Chick of Comanche, Gigi Dudley of Brownwood and Leah Dudley of Krum; and two nephews, Quentin Dudley of Garland and Rick Dudley of Lorena. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sutton and Myra Dudley and two brothers, Charles Lane Dudley and Bill Dudley and wife Nancy Jo Dudley. Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Thursday night from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Lunch for the family will be at the First United Methodist Church at 12:00 Noon on Friday. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, July 25, 2014, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche. Comanche Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Family requests that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 88, Comanche, Texas 76442 or to Comanche Public Library, 311 N. Austin, Comanche, Texas 76442.
