MEMORIALS: Taylor's Chapel Cemetery Association, c/o Johnny Poynor, 4351 Hwy 2247, Comanche, Texas 76442 Jake Chapman, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, in Comanche, Texas. He was born on July 14, 1922, in Comanche County, Texas, to Walter D and Willie (Sledge) Chapman. On March 28, 1942, he was united in marriage to Nina Mae Jones in Long Beach, California. She preceded him in death on April 25, 2003. On October 2, 1942, Jake enlisted in the United States Army/Air Corp., serving throughout World War II. After being discharged in 1947, he worked as an aircraft inspector for 12 years for Convair and Chance Vaught for ten years. He owned and operated Chapman Motors in Fort Worth until 1982. He is survived by three sons, Hollis Dean Chapman and wife Marie of Mansfield, Ronnie Lynn Chapman and wife Jo Ann of Mansfield, and Richard Wayne Chapman and wife Sandy of Emory; six grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Clemons of Comanche, Tessibel "Tess" Wilson of Comanche, and Modet Chapman of Comanche; and one brother, James “Biggie” Chapman of Comanche. He was preceded in death by brother, John Chapman; and sisters, Arthula “Audie” Chapman, and infant girl Chapman.
