James Blue

GRAVESIDE SERVICE:  10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at Union Cemetery, Gustine. VISITATION:  Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Box 387, Comanche, Texas 76442.   James Walter Blue, surrounded by the love of his family, peacefully entered his eternal home on Sunday, November 17, 2019, in Comanche, Texas, at the age of 84.  He was born in Hamilton, Texas on August 28, 1935, the eldest of two sons born to Robert E. and Bessie M. (Peterson) Blue. James was raised in Newburg, Texas, where he attended school through the 8 th grade.  He was a 1953 graduate of Comanche High School.  He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Jacobson in Brady, Texas, on October 5, 1963.  James was active in the Gustine community, where he was employed as the manager of Higginbotham Bros. for over 15 years until he retired in 2000.  For forty-nine years James was a Master Mason of Rising Star Masonic Lodge, which later consolidated with Cross Plains Masonic Lodge.  With his wife, Shirley, he enjoyed playing 42 among friends and family.  After almost forty years of marriage, Shirley preceded him in death on August 5, 2003.  He was an avid gun collector and loved to go to gun shows and auctions.  In his younger years he enjoyed the outdoors – hunting, fishing, and camping at the lake. Blessed by family, he is survived by his daughters, Beth Ann Morgan and husband Kenneth of Newburg, Lori Beth Glass and husband G.W. of Energy, and Rebecca Sanders and husband Larry of Irving; daughter-in-law Daina Blue of Lubbock; his grandchildren: Tara Hopper, Kassie Morgan, Kaitlyn Glass, Justin Morgan, Meagan Badger, Jason Blue, Janna Blue, Dorothy Edwards, and Audrey Polk;  five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Corrine Blue of Comanche and Fay Robinson and husband David of Comanche; along with nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death additionally by his son, Jimmy Don Blue, grandson David Robert Blue, brother Billy Blue, and parents Robert and Bessie Blue.
