Jimmie Adcock

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gustine Church of Christ, P.O. Box 160, Gustine, Texas 76455. Jimmie Dean Adcock died in Fort Worth on Feb. 9, 2015 at the age of 96. She was born in Hamilton County, Texas, on August 13, 1918, one of eight children born to James and Novie McPherson -- Georgia, Alice, Claude, Sunny, Mary, Earl, and Tommie. She was a life long resident of Hamilton and Comanche Counties growing up near Energy, attending school in Pottsville and living in Gustine for the last 62 years. She married Boone Eddleman in 1939. He died in 1968 after 30 years of marriage. In 1970 she married Rob Adcock. They had been married 7 years at the time of his death. Jimmie was a strong independent woman. She lived quietly in Gustine for over 60 years. She and Boone owned and operated a dairy farm on the hill until illness forced them to sell. She then was the owner and operator of Eddleman's Cleaners in downtown Gustine. Jimmie loved to be outside. She mowed and took care of her yard until she was 90 years of age. She often spoke of working in the fields and wandering around in the pastures with her siblings as a child. Her house was always neat and she was famous for her caramel pies. She loved to quilt and did beautiful work. Numerous quilts have been passed down to family including a graduation quilt and wedding quilt for each grandchild and a baby quilt for each great grandchild. She was an avid reader and loved to drink her coffee. The Comanche Library was one of her favorite places. She loved the fact that they let her keep the books as long as she wanted because they knew she would bring them back. She enjoyed spending time with friends at church and other community events. She was a regular at church services and Wednesday lunch at the Senior Citizens Center where she played 42 and visited with friends. She was a member of the Gustine Church of Christ. Jimmie will be missed but memories are strong and we know we can be together again. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Pat and Alvis Stuteville of Gustine and Sue and David Giddings of Fort Worth. Five grandchildren: Jana Dennington, Kristen Stuteville, Jennifer Nicholson, Doug Giddings and Louis Giddings. Nine great-grandchildren: Lena, Mary, Hannah, Johnny, Ryen, Darby, Jace, Jackson, and Ali; sister-in-law, Faye McDonald; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters.
