Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Gustine Church of Christ BURIAL: Evergreen Cemetery VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. LUNCH: Family lunch will be at Gustine Church of Christ at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday. Jimmy Glenn Cotten, age 71, died on Sunday, March 20, 2011, in Gustine, Texas. He was born on February 3, 1940, in McAllen, Texas, but his mother and step-father, Larry and Fern (Cook) Price, moved to California, where he spent most of his early life. Jimmy attended elementary and high school at China Lake, California, but moved back to Texas and graduated from Denton High School. He joined the Navy Reserves while at the same time he attended North Texas State College in Denton, majoring in Biology with a minor in Math. After 2 ½ years of college he was placed on active duty in the Navy, serving as a medical corpsman. He served from 1958 until 1964. After being discharged from the Navy Jimmy worked as a mechanic for Holley Chevrolet in Brownwood and later drove a truck for Ronnie Stephens. His other interests were ham radios, building racecars and watching TV. He was a faithful member of Gustine Church of Christ. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey W. Cotten of Texas; daughters, Lori L. Cotten and Kelly L. Cotten both of Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Travis and Linda Cotten of Moore, Oklahoma; sisters, Bobbie Shook of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Judith Reyes of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Carroll Cotten of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Faye Merson of Pennsylvania; cousins, Lavon Stark of Gustine and Gay Green of Gustine; and numerous other cousins and friends.
