Joan Couch

Joan Anne Carpenter Couch, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025 at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene, Texas. She was born on March 20, 1935 to Robert Andy Carpenter and Mildred (Barrett) Carpenter in Comanche, Texas. On August 06, 1955, she married the love her live, Garner Couch, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was a hard worker who worked many jobs in her life time at an airport, a newspaper in Fort Worth, a secretary and lab assistant. In her later years she would work as a head cook for the Comanche Senior Citizens Center. Joan truly was a gentle spirit and will be missed by many.

She is survived by her 3 children, Cathy Abbey and Kyle Couch of Comanche, Andy Couch & son-in-law Frank Smith of Vilanova i la Geltrú, Spain; brother, Bobby Carpenter; nieces, Cassie Carpenter and Carrie Jones of Lockney, Tx; and various cousins, in-laws and out-laws.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Garner Couch; parents, Bob and Mildred "Tootsie" Carpenter (Barrett).
