FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 15, 2010, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel. VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. LUNCH: First Baptist Church following the funeral service. Houston, Comanche, Texas 76442 Our loving husband, father and friend John Darrell “Duke” Barnes, age 76, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, October 13, 2010. He was born on June 16, 1934, in Roswell, New Mexico to Travis Burl and Ruby Ruth (Baggett) Barnes. John graduated from Roswell High School and attended Howard Payne and Baylor Universities. On August 10, 1956, he was united in marriage to Ann Wideman in San Antonio, Texas. He was in the United States Air Force and Reserves stationed at Lackland Air Force Base and Randolph Air Force Base. For thirty years, John spent his professional life as a real estate salesman. He was a kind and gentle man who loved people. His family was the center of his life, and he was a loving Grandpa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Ann Louise; two children, Daughter, Deborah Ann Armstrong and husband Danny Armstrong, and son, Duke John Darrell Barnes; one sister, Jane Jones; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Travis and Ruby Barnes, and brother, Al Barnes.
