La Joyce Ann Howell, age 75, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016, in Brownwood, Texas. She was born on July 21, 1940, in Comanche, Texas, to Rubin and Viola (Wilson) Long. For many years she was employed in retail by J.C. Penny. La Joyce was united in marriage to Calvin S. Howell. He preceded her in death on January 8, 2005. She is survived by her son, Dwain Scott and wife Kaye of Brownwood; two grandchildren, Tyler Scott and Andrea Ball both of Austin; two great-grandchildren, Cole and Kasey Ball; two sisters, Sue Baker and husband Bobby of San Antonio and Ruth Baker of Fort Worth; and one brother, Paul Long and wife Jeanne of Oregon.
