Joyceleen (Joy) Hulsey was born on August 9, 1932, in Hasse, Tx to Herman and Myrtle McDonald Cox. She was married to Jerry Wayne Hulsey on January 19, 1950, in Comanche, Texas. They were blessed with 2 sons, Michael Wayne and Kenneth Don. Joy was the middle of 5 children. She attended schools at Hasse, Tx where she also joined the Hasse Baptist Church at an early age.
Her husband’s work took them to Chicago, Alabama, Oklahoma, and then back to Texas. While living in the Dallas/ Irving area, she was employed by the U.S. Post Office, Motor Truck Equipment, City of Dallas, Lincoln Property and Master Products before returning to Comanche, where she worked at various jobs including Cox Processing.
Joy had a strong work ethic and was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother
She is survived by six grandchildren, Christi (& Erik) Banner, John (& Dawn) Hulsey, Xavier Solbach, Jeff (& Sidney) Hulsey, Jeremy (& Shyla) Hulsey and Josh (& Jessica) Hulsey, 18 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
She is also survived by sister-in-law, Margie Cox and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, including 2 very precious nieces, Debbie Porter and Marilyn Biggs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerry Hulsey, her sons, Michael Wayne Hulsey and Kenneth Don Hulsey, siblings, Juanita Todd, Polly Guill, Lou Neal, Calvin Cox, and great grandson, Jason Hulsey.
Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home at 1pm on Saturday January 25th, followed by the service at 2:00pm, with Bro Steven Schulte officiating. Burial will be at Downing cemetery.
A family luncheon will be held at 11:30 on Saturday at East Side Baptist church fellowship hall.
