Judy Gooch Cheatham of Sidney, Texas passed away on November 25, 2023 in Comanche, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at Comanche Funeral Home on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2:00 pm.
Judy was born in Texon, Texas on March 21, 1945 to Curtis Ralph Gooch and Maude Alma (Cleveland) Gooch. She was raised in Big Lake and graduated from Reagan County High School in 1963. She attended business school in Austin for keypunch and worked in San Angelo and Fort Worth. It was in Fort Worth at General Dynamics that she met her husband, Larry. They were married on August 1, 1968 and later moved to Sidney where they owned and operated the grocery store. Once their daughters were in school, Judy started working in the Sidney school cafeteria and as a bus driver. She was active in the school and community as a 4H leader and the Parent Teacher Committee. She retired from the school in 1989. In spite of her long battle with Multiple Sclerosis, she enjoyed the country life, her family, and being Grammy to her grandchildren. She was a member of the Sidney Baptist Church.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents Curtis Ralph Gooch and Maude Alma (Cleveland) Gooch and siblings Hugh McClure, Mary Lee, Mattie Jones, Bill McClure, Jimmy McClure, and Winn McClure.
Judy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Larry Cheatham, of Sidney, daughters, Krista McCown (Mike) of Grand Prairie and Kendra Kearns (George) of Fort Worth, grandchildren Jackson Kearns and Paige McCown and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to the MS Society, Sidney Community Fund, or the Comanche Public Library.
