Wright Comanche, Texas  76442 or American Diabetes Association Fort Worth Office 2315 North Main Suite 320 Fort Worth, Texas 76106 Judy Clare Mackey-Elston-Ashton was born May 6, 1932 in Brown County, Texas.  Judy looked into the eyes of Jesus Friday Evening, March 27, 2015.  She battled a recent illness with pancreatic cancer and went to Heaven from her home in Comanche surrounded by family. Her spouse, Richard Ashton survives her, and they had been able to enjoy travels and laughter over the past couple of years during their partnership.  She is also survived by her children, Mike Mackey and wife Mary of Brownwood, Randel Mackey and wife Kaye of Blanket, Harriet Mackey Woods and husband Dan of Comanche.  She is also survived by her only sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Norman Bilbrey of Fort Worth.  Her grandchildren whom she loved and took great pride and joy in all the days of her life are Brent Mackey, Scott Mackey, Stephanie Garner and Cutter Hargroove.  She was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren.  And her loved pets/companions, Scruffy and Rose. Judy was preceded in death by Manuel Mackey, who she shared the joy of raising four children with.  They were also partners and took great pride and joy in running The Mackey Bros dairy for 40 years prior to his passing. Judy was also preceded in death by her second husband of twenty years, Kenneth Elston, who she referred to as her “cowboy”.  They enjoyed spending time with family and gospel music together. Her son, Steven Mackey also preceded her, as did her mother and father Raymond and Lucille Seed and her brother Richard Rae “Dickey” Seed. Judy was an active member of First Baptist Church of Comanche and spent many years as a Sunday school and Training Union teacher at First Baptist Church, Blanket, Texas where she raised her children to know and love The Lord.  She was a retired schoolteacher and her heart was drawn to teach the very young and handicapped.  She knew that if a child could gain “knowledge” they could grow to be anyone they wanted to be, with or without a handicap. Judy loved to serve and be active not only in her church, but the community.  She served and held many positions and offices in the following groups and organizations.  She served as both a President and a District President of the Heart of Texas Women’s Club, The Blanket Study Club, The Comanche Heritage Club, Two Term President of The Zephyr Water Association and under her administration a new office and shop was constructed.  Past President The Brown County Posse Ettes, American Business Women’s Association, Retired Teachers Association and The Eastern Star. Judy was a lifetime “hostess.”  If there was an event, or party that needed organizing that too, was a passion of her heart.  Friendship was also a part of who she was and that is  evident by the many special friends she leaves behind.
