Larue Prater

LaRue Reed Prater, age 89, died at her home in Blanket, Tx, Tuesday morning, May 23, 2023. She was born April 20, 1934, in Spur, Texas, to Clara Mae Dixon Reed and Clarence A. Reed. She attended school in Lingleville where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Claude Lee Prater on May 12, 1954, and moved to Sonora, Tx. They returned to Comanche in 1961 and resided at their ranch in Blanket since 1976.
La Rue is known for her humor, creativity, and ability to turn almost any event into a reason for a family gathering. Her husband, Claude Lee preceded her in death in 2017.

Survivors include her daughters; Connie Reed and husband, Dennis, Pat Pirkle and husband, Mark, Pam Tucker and husband C.W.; one son, Bill Prater and wife, Sandi; as well as her grandchildren, Neil Scott and wife, Monica, Chad Scott and wife, Amanda, Laci Archer and husband, Zach, Holly Wagner and husband, Michael, Shane Tucker and wife, Sarah, Heath Tucker and wife, Jodi, Justin Prater and wife, Charli, Clint and Eli Wilson, Becca Wagner and husband, Pat, Kelsey Styron and husband, Skylar, and Lyndsey Brundin and husband, Justin, step-grandchildren, Kayla Lauren and Jeremy Reed and 20 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear sister, Annette Landes of Crowley and her husband, Coy and sisters-in-law Shirley Reed and Faye Reed and 17 nieces and nephews.

LaRue was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Edward, Shroy, Troy (Rocky), her twin Charlie and Jackie Reed and sisters-in-law Jewel Dean and Elda.

Pallbearers for the service are her son, Bill Prater and her seven grandsons, Shane and Heath Tucker, Justin Prater, Neil and Chad Scott, and Clint and Eli Wilson.

The family would like to thank her caregivers, Kelly Murton, Mary Silva, Shelby Mast, and Tatum Banda for the loving care they have given LaRue and Claude in their last years.
