Laverne Hopkins

FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel. VISITATION: Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon on Saturday until service time. Laverne Hopkins, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, in Comanche County, Texas. She was born on September 21, 1943, in Brown County, Texas, to Clarence and Laehler George. On January 19, 1974, she was united in marriage to Roger Hopkins in Comanche County, Texas. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2014. For many years Laverne worked for Durham Pecan Company in Comanche. She was a member of Taylor’s Chapel Methodist Church in Comanche County. She is survived by her cousins, Leta Swindle and husband Claude of Hurst and Lois Morgan and husband Richard of Keller; cousin, James Tompkins and wife Debbie of Andrews; sister-in-law, Cindy George of California; brother-in-law, James Hopkins and wife Anneliese of Flower Mound; sister-in-law, Diane Hopkins of Mesquite; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Laehler George; brothers, Clarence George, Jr., and Henry George; and cousins, Sue Roberts and Butch Hicks.
