GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 1:00 P.M. Monday, August 19, 2013. BURIAL: Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Comanche County. VISITATION: Family will meet with friends at 10:00 A.M. on Monday until time to leave for the cemetery. Lee Ona was born November 24, 1936, in Magnolia, Montgomery County, TX. to William Lee Ona Thornton and Ora Ellen Hooper Thornton. The family later moved to San Angelo, TX. where she attended the Lake View Schools. They then relocated to Odessa, TX. and she continued her education. While living in Odessa, she met the love of her life, Robert Lewis Gordon. They were married on July 11, 1953, in Odessa. Together they raised two sons, Richard Lewis Gordon and Stephen Wayne Gordon. Lee Ona worked for Nelson Office Supply for many years and made many friends and acquaintances. She was an active member of the East Side Baptist Church. After their retirement, they moved to Brownwood and lived on the lake. Later, they moved to a country place near Comanche. After Robert’s death, Lee Ona relocated to Burkburnett to be near her son and his family. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church. Lee Ona is preceded in death by her parents, William and Ora Thornton, her husband Robert, and brothers-in-law Boyd Hodge, Jesse Robertson, and J.T. Gordon. Her sister-in-law, Barbara Gordon Clifton, also preceded her. She is survived by two sisters, Betty Joe Robertson of San Angelo and Mary Lou Hodge of Carbon, TX; sons Richard Lewis Gordon and wife Shari of Burkburnett, and Stephen Wayne Gordon and wife Linda of Andrews. Lee Ona was blessed with four grandchildren, Robert Gordon, Erin Polk, Joshua Gordon, and Rebecca Peer. There are five great grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews. In-laws are Margie Gordon of Victoria and Tommy Clifton of Robert Lee. Pall bearers will be Joshua Gordon, Robert Lewis Gordon II, Shawn Polk, Glen Hodge, Jeff Hodge, and Jake Peer In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care of Wichita Falls, Texas
