Linda Mayfield

January 6, 1949 — March 18, 2021

Linda Joan Mayfield, age 72, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021, in Brownwood, Texas.

She was born on January 6, 1949, in Comanche, Texas, to Luther Floyd and Bessie Lucille (Burks) Steele. On January 8, 1969, she was united in marriage to Melvin Fredrick Mayfield in Comanche. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Linda was a lifelong resident of Comanche and took great pride in her home town. She was an excellent homemaker and took care of her husband for many years. She looked forward to reading the Comanche Chief every week and listening to Hotline on KCOM. She loved tapping her toes to some good old bluegrass music and was a huge fan of Elvis Presley. Linda loved the holidays, especially the Fourth of July. Her grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy and she loved being outside watching them play. More than anything else in the world Linda loved having all of her children and family together.
