Luke Eldon Easley, age 98, passed away peacefully September 25, 2024, in the presence of his three sons and his Lord. He was born at home on a small farm north of Comanche on September 4th, 1926.
Luke married the love of his life, Imogene Fagan in August of 1949. The wedding was a double ring ceremony performed by Luke's grandfather Rev Robert Burnett Easley (founder of Easley's Chapel on Highway 16 North) Together they raised three rowdy boys on a peanut farm and cattle ranch 4 miles north of Comanche. Luke was a devout Christian with a deep faith and a member of East Side Baptist Church. Luke had a great personality and sense of humor. He was loved by everyone except his boys when they were on the wrong end of his belt. If you knew him for 15 minutes, you knew he was one of the good guys.
Luke was a veteran of WW II in the United States Army, Pacific Theater. Gardening for "mom and dad" was not a hobby. To them it was a necessity but one they both enjoyed. There was always a big garden, and nothing went to waste. Canned, frozen or fresh, friends, relatives, and neighbors got their share of the bounty. As most couples of their era, work on the farm began at dawn and ended at dusk and the work was never done. Sunday however was the Lord's day and he got it all.
Luke is survived by his three sons, Gary Easley and wife, Gale, Kent Easley, Eldon Easley and wife, Brenda; grandchildren, Jarod Easley, Justin Easley and Kaela, Steven Easley and Cassie, Katie and Quaid Warren, Weston Easley, Jordan Easley; great grandchildren, Nathan, Jenna, Sydney, Katy, Noah, Arabella, Garrison, Indiana, Luke, Wayne, Raylee, Megan, Harper, Emily, Colt; brother, Harold Easley and wife, Carolyn.
