Maria Escobar

February 11, 1932 — December 18, 2024

Maria Romero Escobar, a beloved wife, mother figure, and pillar of strength to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, at the age of 92. Born in Mexico on February 11, 1932, Maria's life was a testament to devotion, resilience, and an unwavering love for her family and community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paz Escobar, and leaves behind a legacy of devotion, selflessness, and a deep-rooted faith. Maria was a woman who wore many hats-she was a homemaker, a chef, a dairy worker, a cleaner, and a dedicated employee at Durham's Pecan, where she completed her working career with tireless commitment. Her contributions were not limited to her professional life, as she was also known as a mother figure for all - offering love, care, and wisdom to those who were blessed to be in her circle.
Maria's hands, which spent countless hours cleaning, baking, and caring for others, were the same hands that nurtured her home and her loved ones. Whether she was preparing a hot meal from scratch on a Friday evening or cleaning every corner with precision, Maria's love was in everything she touched. Her home was always open, and her hospitality-along with the delicious smells of her cooking-welcomed all who came to her door.

A woman of faith, Maria was a devout Catholic, finding strength and guidance in her daily prayers. She always carried a rosary and quite often found the quiet moments of reflection that radiated peace and love. She kept her family safe in her prayers and was known for her unshakeable belief in the power of God to protect and guide those she loved.
In addition to her devotion to family and faith, Maria had a passion for life's simpler pleasures. She loved watching telenovelas, finding joy and connection in the stories of love and drama that filled the screen. She always wore her red lipstick with pride, a symbol of her vibrant spirit and the love she had for life, no matter the challenges she faced.
Maria will be remembered for her incredible hospitality, her love of cooking, and her unfailing devotion to her family. She was a woman who could be counted on to keep her "babies"-whether biological or chosen-safe, loved, and supported through every stage of life. Her warmth and compassion left a lasting impact on all who had the honor of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paz Escobar; her father and mother, Valentin and Maria Romero; brothers Francisco Romero and Domingo Romero; sisters Estefana Medrano, Salome Romero, Maria de Jesus Romero, Aniceta Romero, and Antonia Romero; and granddaughter, Diana Escobar.

She is survived by her brother and wife, Martin and Maria Romero of Mexico; Felipa Ramos of Mexico and Ignacio Romero of Comanche, Texas. She is also survived by her son and wife, Ramon and Janie Escobar of Comanche, Texas; son and wife, Arturo and Avelina Escobar of Comanche, Texas; daughter and husband, Estela and Guadalupe Segura of Comanche, Texas; son and wife, Juan and Cristi Escobar of North Richland Hills, Texas; and daughter and husband, Olga and Paul Martinez of Clyde, Texas. She leaves this earthly world with 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held at Comanche Funeral Home on December 22, 2024 at 2PM.
Maria Romero Escobar's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her love, faith, and unwavering spirit will forever be remembered.

Rest in peace, Maria. You were truly one of a kind.
