Maria Talamantez

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Maria Esther Talamantez, who peacefully passed away on March 4, 2025, while visiting her daughter in Johns Creek, Georgia. A native of Comanche, Texas, Maria's life was marked by her deep faith, her love for family, and her dedication to helping others.

A devout Catholic, Maria was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where her unwavering faith guided her through life's challenges. She was a loving mother to her son, Ray Talamantez, and daughter, Nelia Vara, and a proud grandmother to Gabriela (Nick Maschino), Ryan (Emily Fizer),Brittany Wilson and Cordai Talamantez. She was also blessed to be a great-grandmother to her cherished Nico.

Maria's love extended beyond her immediate family to her entire community. She will be fondly remembered as a wonderful cook, with her famous tamales bringing joy to countless friends and neighbors in Comanche over the years. She also devoted many years of her life as a nurse aide at Western Hills Nursing Home in Comanche, where she lovingly cared for her patients with compassion and kindness.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband Rodolfo Talamantez, her beloved son, Ruben Talamantez, and her parents, Eustacio and Virginia Reyes. She was also preceded by her siblings: Margarita Faz Reyes, Esteban Reyes, Rodolfo Reyes, Eustacio Reyes, Manuel Reyes, and Armando Reyes. She leaves behind an extended family of nieces, nephews, and many dear friends, all of whom she loved deeply.

She is survived by her son, Ray Talamantez; her daughter, Nelia Vara; her grandchildren, Gabriela, Ryan, Brittany, Cordai; her great-grandson, Nico; and her loving sister-in-laws, Pepa Reyes, Paula Reyes, Elsira Reyes, Rosa Reyes, and Armandina Reyes (RIP).

A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, Maria's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her gentle spirit, unwavering love, and kind heart will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
