She married Gaylon Abbey in September of 1953 and they enjoyed life together for 57 years until his passing in 2009.
She had a true heart for serving people through multiple careers, from operating her own in-home daycare, then becoming a licensed beautician and operating her own salon to caring for long term care residents as a certified nursing assistant, and finally retiring at the age of 80 from working in dietary service at Whitestone Assisted Living.
She will be remembered as an amazing mom by her sons, Jimmy (Nancy), Carroll (Rhonda) both of Comanche, and Mark (Belynda) of Burnet, grandchildren Taylor (Amanda), Kassie (Jacob), Emily (Daniel), Allison, Noah, Jonah, and Grace, great grandchildren, Fiona, Lakyn, Eloise, Meryn, Niles, Milo, Maddie, Ozlyn, and Ollie. She is also survived by her sister Sue Creek, brothers Morris and Gene Bingham, and her faith family at East Side Baptist Church.
She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Weldon, Doyle and Floyd Bingham, a sister Anna Lou Creek, her niece in law and dear friend Dorothy Jean Abbey, sister-in-law and dear friend Shirley Abbey.
For the last six months our mom and Gran considered herself blessed to be able to live her best life among the amazing caregivers at the beautiful Legacy Estate Care Facility at CCMC. As her family we will always be grateful for the love and care that surrounded her there.
A celebration of her life will be the afternoon of Sunday February 2nd at 3 o'clock at East Side on FM 3381 in Comanche, with visitation prior at 2pm.
Memorials can be made to Legacy Estate or East Side Baptist Church, or a preferred charity.
