She was born August 4, 1916, near Hasse, Texas, to Henry Greenlee and Estell (Swearingin) Greenlee. She was born in the same house in which Henry was born and died. Bea attended school at Hasse and was baptized into the Hasse Baptist Church. At the time of her death she was a member of First Baptist Church, Gustine. She married Paul Glenn Patton December 30, 1933. Bea loved sports. She played them in school and went to all of her children’s events. In later years, she tried to see all of her grand-children’s games, and then she tried to make most of the great-grands’ and the great-great-grands’ games. She was always an Aggie fan and later a Longhorn fan, too. Bea was a talented seamstress and quilter. She sewed for all of her family. Betty and Janie always had a new dress for Easter, even though sometimes it may have been made from feed sack fabric. Everyone in the family has at least one of her beautiful quilts. She also loved to farm and raise cattle and was proud of her Simmental herd. She and her dad plowed many an acre behind their horse teams, mostly Babe and Maud. She did this as long as her health permitted. Before Bea’s death, surrounded by her family, she began to sing “Church in the Wildwood”. She sang every word and was in tune all the time. The grandchildren were amazed. They had never heard her sing before. She is survived by one son, Jack Patton and wife Connie of Burnet, Texas; two daughters, Betty Kirkland and husband William of Gustine, Janie Miller and husband David, also of Gustine; seven grandchildren: Pam Hurt, Pat Denning, Kyle Kirkland, Paula Kelley, Lenora Burton, Janalyn Elkins and Bobby Downing; seventeen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister, Jimmie Rollins of New Home, Texas; brother, Don Greenlee and wife Gwen of McKinney, Texas; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her life long friend, Lois Allen and a host of other friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul, of 42 years, and one brother, Homer Greenlee.
